My initial reaction to the Madden NFL 23 running back ratings is that the developers were awfully generous. With over 30 players carrying an overall rating of 80 or higher, and more than 50 with at least a 76 overall, it looks like every team will be just fine in this department. However, similar to other position groups, there are still some obvious flaws.

For example, Najee Harris is coming off a year in which he put up 1,200 yards on the ground and 467 yards through the air, which was nearly enough for him to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year. Yet, he didnt even crack the top 15 in RB ratings. Also, Chase Edmonds is coming off a career-year as one of the top dual-threat running backs in the league and was rewarded with a 79 overall. Likewise, Antonio Gibson rushed for over 1,000 yards last season but narrowly made the top 30.

Obviously, these ratings will fluctuate over the course of the regular season but there still appear to be some key mistakes, at least at first glance.
